In the past two days, we have gone to the library twice...different libraries (I love living in an area with all these opportunities!), but the same result from both.
A bag full of books.
LBB loves to read. And the most exciting thing happened yesterday when we went to the library...we set him down. Let him crawl. And he picked out his books.
So, needless to say, we have books on kitties. Books on trucks. Books on animals. And...
A book about Santa.
LBB is doing his research, apparently. Figuring out how to get on the jolly old man's good side. I personally think lots of hugs and snuggles with Mommy and Daddy will yield good results in the Santa department. :)
He also picked out a few books on Thanksgiving and Autumn. Such a sweetheart, my LBB is. :) But, in the spirit of reading, we decided (a while back, actually) that we would share some of our favorite reads. So, we have a separate blog just for our reading...and I look forward to a few years from now when LBB can contribute and share what he thought. :) So, stop by What We're Reading every now and then if you want to see what we read, what we think of it, and our own special rating system. :)
Well, off I go...I picked up a few good reads that I'm dying to dive into, and since LBB is peacefully sleeping, I'm going to take advantage of this opportunity!

I'm a gonna sneak in one more post...
...before August passes me by. :)
WHAT?!?!?! August? Already almost done? Can't be.
But, lo and behold, it is....and I'm not complaining. I love fall, after all. It's my most favorite season of all. (So much rhyming...I'm just a regular Dr. Seuss.)
It's been an amazing summer though...and now that it is winding down to a close, it's fun to think of all the fun we had as a family (our first summer as a "family", to be exact!)
We went on lots of hikes. Took lots of trips to the beach. Visited the zoo a few times. Drooled over lots of cars each Saturday night at the car show. Had tons of fun at the park. And got to spend some good quality time with both sides of the family. Life is good.
LBB loves being outside, and the past few months, as he really grew and learned new things (like crawling and the like), it's been a lot of fun watching him explore the world around him in different ways. At the beginning of summer, when he was set down in sand, he observed and watched us. And yesterday, at the sand box, he was crawling around, putting sand in and out of a dump truck, and letting it sift through his fingers onto his shorts. :) *sigh* He makes me so happy.
And now, we're onto fall...and I am going to finish up this little last of summer post so I can go research an apple orchard for us to go to in the near future. :)

The Diaper Box Girl
LBB is a major flirt. Has been since day one, in fact. :) If he sees a girl, the charm factor oozes out of him...it is absolutely adorable.
The past few days when I've been feeding him, he kept looking at the dining floor and smiling with his sparkly eyes and cute little chubby cheeks...and then giggling. I just shrugged it off as my little ham being, well, a little ham. Then yesterday, while feeding him lunch, he started being Mr. Charming again, so I just had to see what was catching his attention...and I looked down to discover:
Diaper Box Girl :)
Ah. Needless to say, the diapers were put away, the box was moved from the dining room, and breakfast and lunch went by without interuption today. :)
Stubborn as a mule...
I'm going to have my hands full. LBB is about as stubborn as they come. :)
And the one thing he is the most stubborn about? Sleep. Especially now that he is crawling, he tries to fit as much play into his day as possible...even if it means staying up way longer than he should and skimping on his naps. We've tried cuddling him to sleep. Rocking him to sleep. And the worst, letting him "cry-it-out." If you've read any of my posts, :) you know how I feel about that. But, sometimes even holding him doesn't make him happy. sigh
However, letting him cry it out literally means listening to him sit in the middle of his crib screaming...and 98% of the time, he still doesn't go to sleep.
See, I told you. Stubborn.
I can't expect any less, however...both Dear Sweet Hubby and I have stubborn streaks a mile long. It only makes sense that LBB inherited that wonderful trait. ;)

Let's chalk this up to mobility...
LBB's mobility, that is. :)
Pardon the lack of blogging recently...life was crazy. Then a little more crazy. And suddenly, LBB learned how to crawl.
And...
Life. Changes. Drastically.
But, I must add, in a very good way.
LBB has been working on the crawling aspect for a while...he could just never seem to get the hang of the whole butt up and chest up at the same time. Then, a few days ago, he figured out the army crawl. Both Dear Sweet Hubby and I were ecstatic...our LBB was finally mobile. And, by the next night, he was a full fledged crawler.
And now...he is into everything. We had childproofed the house a while back, but I never imagined all the stuff he can get into. And run into. And bonk his head on...they need to seriously invent furniture that is completely childproof. I love watching him explore though. He's figured out that he can go from room to room, and spent this morning crawling around the house investigating everything he sees (needless to say, the baby gate got put up today.)
And oh, poor Cat #2. She loves LBB dearly, but she was always able to leave his side when she needed some time for herself. Not so anymore. LBB will hunt her down, and relentlessly pursue her, no matter how many times I pick him up, put him somewhere else, and sternly say "no." Now she's taken to hiding behind the curtains in our bedroom window. :)
The wonderful thing about LBB is this: once he figures something out, he is eager to learn the next step. So, within one day of crawling, he was pulling himself up on furniture and inching along to get to things he wanted. He is beginning to walk behind his little push toy, and if you hold his hands, he can walk easy-peasy. :) That's my guy...a little go-getter.
So, that is my very valid excuse for my lack of blogging...I've been on my toes chasing him when he is awake, and cleaning up after him when he is asleep. :) It's a different type of motherhood than what I was experiencing 2 weeks ago, but it is such a wonderful change that there is no possible way I can complain!
